Home Remedies For Hair Loss Prevention

There are some very effective home remedies that you can use to prevent hair loss. These home remedies are lot cheaper than over the counter products and natural supplements sold online and they can be just as effective. It is often a good idea to try a couple of home remedies before investing in expensive treatments.

Most people can learn how to avoid hair loss by applying these simple but highly effective home treatments. These home remedies are simple, all natural and safe. Most people will be able to prepare them right at home and apply them.

Before applying the home remedies it is best to try eating a diet that promotes health growth. Regularly consuming certain foods including salmon, tuna, lean red meat, eggs, fruits, vegetables, nuts and beans can encourage hair growth. These foods contain a good dose of the vitamins, minerals and proteins needed to grow hair.

Some Home Remedies for Hair Growth
One of the best home remedies for hair growth is egg yolk. Eggs contain lots of protein and vitamin B which is vital for hair growth. Rubbing egg yolk into your scalp can give it the nutrition it needs. Leaving egg yolk in hair for a half
hour as a conditioner a few times a week is also a good idea.

Rubbing oils on your head helps as well. Massaging your scalp will relax it and encourage hair growth. Adding oils which provide nutrients can help this process. Almond oil, castor oil, coconut oil and olive oil can all be used for this massage.

Fenugreek seed a natural supplement available online and at health food stores and natural grocers can help as well. Making a paste from this seed and leaving it on your head for a half a hour a few times a week can help.

A paste made from honey, eggs and olive oil can help your head as well. Just leave it on your head for about a half a hour a few times a week.

Pastes made from castor oil, eggs, vinegar and glycerin have achieved similar results.

The secret to these natural treatments is to massage your head thoroughly when you use them and leave them on your scalp for at least half an hour. One good time to do this is at night after dinner when youre reading, playing video games or watching TV.

You should be able to find these ingredients at health food stores, natural grocers and some large chain grocers. Large chain grocers and discount stores will have better prices on these products. Natural ingredients can also be ordered online.

One danger you face when you put any product natural or other wise on your head is allergies. If any of these solutions start to sting, itch or hurt when you put them on your scalp wash them off immediately. That could be a sign of an allergic reaction which can make the situation worse.

If these suggestions dont work for you keep trying until you find one that does. Many more home remedies for hair loss prevention can be found online and elsewhere.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
does head lice cause hair loss?
Yes, head lice does cause hair loss! I am a mixed (black and white) woman who probably had head lice for years without realizing because it is assumed that black people (I have black hair) don't get head lice which is a farce! I thought the nits were dandruff and I thought the itch was just a normalcy! Wow The only reason I found out I had head lice is because I actually saw the bugs!!!!
I braided my hair with extensions, (the packs of hair has bugs in them so if you are braiding, you should wash the hair thoroughly) and upon completion of braiding my hair, I noted the back of my neck burning and then an itch that was undescribable. When I removed the braids, I noted white looking bugs for which I tried some home remedies. The olive oil DOES work in that it calms the itching and biting. The olive oil is a natural deterant for these little bastards and I think it kills the adults. However, the olive oil just wasn't working overall in the removal process. I got drastic and put bleach on a wash cloth and preceded to scrub my scalp with the washcloth and lo and behold, I noted that white balls were coming off my scalp and became noticeable (thousands, ughhhhhh) in my hair and on the wash cloth for which I removed them (eggs) As you rub your scalp, rinse out the nits, bleach add water and scrub some more. I continued this process until I didn't see any more eggs. When you do this process, you can actually feel the eggs on your scalp with your fingers. There is some kind of sticky stuff attached to the egss and to your scalp! The process is drastic but it worked like a charm. However, it does cause some burning and irritation. I waited for two-three days and did the process again because I knew I had missed some (eggs).

I don't recommend using this remedy on children, especially under the age of 12 but whatever works as the lice were making my life a living hell because the scratching became very noticeable and because I knew what was going on, my personality changed dramatically.

After I washed my hair the second time after the bleach procedure, I noted bald patches. Particulary around the nape of my neck and my edges. Prior to my realizing that I had head lice and the lice episode, I thought I was having alopecia problems but my hair is growing back in those areas which I think was due to the fact that so many eggs were laid and this cut off proteins or what ever to my hair shaft.

Therefore, from living this experience, lice does cause hair loss but this procedure definitely works!!!!!

    • ANSWER:
One of the leading causes of hair loss and damage to the hair is infestation by parasites. It's an unpleasant subject and one most people don't like to talk about, but the good news is that parasite problems are usually quite treatable and your hair should grow back normally afterwards.

  2. QUESTION:
How do you keep a healthy diet without your hair falling out?
I was trying to loose weight a few months ago and finally reached half of my goal- which is loosing about 10-15 pounds and get my tummy toned. I already lost the weight that I wanted to so I'm not trying to loose weight now. I had a baby in May and at the same time that I was trying to loose weight my hair started falling out- I have 4 children & I never had a hair loss problem before until now- I had asked a question about hair loss before and I thought it was maybe because I had a kid & sometimes hair loss is expected- OK fine, my baby's 7 mo. now. It seems like ever since I lost weight my hair has gotten weaker- & loose handfulls at times. I'm eating the right foods so I know is not that. I feel healthier but my hair is stressed out. Any tips anyone can help me with? Maybe home remedies to make my hair stronger and so it can grow? Or perhaps maybe something thats good for hair loss? I rather much would appreaciate home remedies. I really dont want to take any prescriptions. Thanks.

    • ANSWER:
Drink 10-12 glasses of water daily and have a high protein diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables and dairy products. Since iron-deficiency anemia can also cause hair loss, make sure that you eat a well-balanced diet that includes a daily serving or two of iron-rich foods. Check out

lots of hair loss - home remedies?
My mum has had a lot of HAIR loss over the years. She has been balding and she has hair but not much of it, its really thin and shoulder length and she's been balding on the crown of her head. She has really bad dandruff, which she's been trying to treat for several years by using medicine doctors have given her and stuff, but nothing has worked. My mum is under a lott of stress from financial problems and stuff too. And she has depression and use to take depression pills. She doesn't anymore because depression pills make you tired, and she needs to not be tires so she can work.

Basically does anyone know any home remedies for dandruff and hair regrowth?
    That works well?
    Thank you

    • ANSWER:
      Hi,

There are two things your mom can try out immediately; first, make sure she gets plenty of protein and vitamins in her diet (like B, C, & E). Foods like fruits, vegetables, fish, poultry, and lean red meats will help in this regard. Also, she can apply natural oils to her scalp alongside her shampoo & conditioner to help repair the damage & stimulate new growth. Here's a quick list of a few & their effects:

Basil: Massaging basil hair oil into the scalp helps strengthen follicles and improves scalp circulation, which may trigger hair growth.

Sage: Using sage as a hair rinse helps darken the hair and delay hair loss

Bay: By adding three drops of this oil into your shampoo, it not only helps restore dull hair and stimulates hair growth, but also helps resolve the problem of dandruff

Rosemary: Stimulates hair bulbs to renewed activity, strengthens hair, and prevents premature baldness

Arnica: Using a hair rinse with arnica extract has been used to treat Alopecia Neurotica

Amla: From dried amla berries, amla oil helps hair from graying prematurely, prevents shedding and dandruff, strengthens hair, and stimulates hair growth.

Best of luck to you both :-)

  4. QUESTION:
Stress-related hair loss - any remedies that work?
I used to have very thick and full hair and over the past year and it has thinned out to the point where you can almost see my scalp on the top of my head. A hairdresser said that it was a stress-related problem because hairdye, while damaging your hair, will not make it fall out that much and since it was only on the top and the rest of my hair isn't falling out. Is there anything I can do for the hair to grow back? Any products I can use?? I am an 18 year old female and as you can imagine, this is kind of embarassing. I'm really worried that it might keep falling out. I have stopped dying my hair (just in case) and I use thickening shampoos (I don't think those work, but whatever) but it's still the same.

If anybody has any solutions; store-bought, home-made, change in diet, vitamins, ANYTHING, I am willing to try it.

    • ANSWER:
try biotin supplements and also takes steps to reduce your stress level.

Dove is better. SLS free herbal shampoos don't really do much difference. I use dove shampoo and conditioner. It's really good for hair, light and keeps hair clean and healthy. It's especially good for curly or wavy hair. Your hair doesn't get frizzy. I like it. You only need small amount of it to wash your hair properly. It's cheap and the smell is very nice! It adds shine to hair. :)

Also, i use to have really thick hair REALLY THICK, lately its becoming thinner, im scared of hair loss/baldness-im only 19-, any home remedies for that? thank you so much!!!

    • ANSWER:
anyway hair loss can be caused by many different reasons! Find out the actual cause of hair loss! There are many causes of loss of hair such as stress, poor nutrition ,medications, thyroid dysfunctions, illness, fungal infections ,hormonal problems, to mention a few.

year ago I suffered from hair loss too and I started trying everything you can imagine to stop my hair loss.
the things that really worked for me was:

      1) Vitamin A - an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp;

      2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The 'B' vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation;

      3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage;

      4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice(you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three);

      5) also I used herbal treatment - TrichoZed
It is a good product that helps prevent hair loss and it is an FDA approved product. I think it is very important!

It worked and still works for me!

I do not know if any pharmacies carry TrichoZed but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here http://www.trichozed.info

It enhances hair growth by blocking DHT (Dihydrotestostrone) - a major cause of hair loss!

      good luck!

not only my and my husband`s own personal experience

  12. QUESTION:
Hair experts: Hair loss in teen girls solutions? It's a long one but I appreciate your help!?
Hey. I've asked this before but I don't want to give up. I'm just going to give you all the facts:
I'm a 17 year old girl and have noticed that my hair has really thinned over the past few years.
My hair used to be nice and thick and now I can see a LOT of my scalp.
My dad is pretty much bald, my mom's hair is kind of thin but thicker than mine, and my grandma on my dad's side is pretty much bald also.
I'm really embarassed by this and don't really want to talk to my mom about it. It just makes me sad.
I've done some research on home remedies on regrowing hair, but I've also read a lot that you can't really "regrow" your hair follicles or whatever.
Anyway, I've put oil in my hair, as well as a raw egg, but I've only done both once because I don't really know what I'm supposed to do. Has anyone tried this? Are you supposed to do it often?
Ladies, you know how important our hair is for our image. I don't really have a high self esteem, but my hair used to be really thick and it was something that I liked about myself. Now I don't want to wear it down because you can see so much of my scalp.
Keep in mind that I'm 17 and so life is already tough and confusing. (Typical teen behaviour, I know things could be worse, but you can probably see where I'm coming from. No teen wants to suffer from hair loss so early when they're already feeling awkward. Especially teen girls).
I know there are ways to disguise it, like short cuts with lots of layers, but short isn't really a look that works for me.
Right now my hair is sort of long with no layers. It's sort of curly and is pretty frizzy which makes it so much better.
I want to dye it darker, but that will probably make it's thin-ness even more noticible, right? If you can see my scalp?
Are there any suggestions you have for me. Besides medications. I don't really want to talk to my mom about it right now. It's too embarassing.

I've also heard before that your hair changes every 7 years or something. Is that true? Because I noticed my hair started to thin a few years ago. Is there any hope that it will be thick again? I don't want to get my hopes up too much though because of my grandma and heredity and all.

I don't have a terrible diet or anything. I'm not the most super healthy person, but I don't think it's my diet causing this. Also, I get really stressed during the school year, but it's not that bad.
I'm not really interested in anything to make my hair LOOK thicker, like shampoos and mousse and sprays. I want to actually grow more hair.

Thanks so much! You have no idea how much I appreciate this!

Sorry if I sound like a whiny teenager who complains too much, but this is something that I'm really struggling with.

  13. QUESTION:
Home remedies to grow back eyebrows?
I'm seventeen and I've been penciling my eyebrows in for about 2 years now. im absolutely sick of it and i NEED them to grow back. I always kept them kinda thin, but i had a hair loss problem and now all of my hair is thin and my eyebrows are barely even there. I pencil them in good, barely noticable, but i miss the days where i could go everywhere without makeup!! Help please. and i do not wanna get them tattooed on, or buy some online product that wont help. home remedies only please :)

    • ANSWER:
Well, if the hair follicles are damaged the hair wont grow back, the only thing i can recommend is to have them tinted so they are darker, and also tint some of the hair to try and shape them a bit more or what ever to make them look longer, darker and a lot more noticeable, but as i said its rare for your hairs to grow back if the hair follicle is damadged.

  14. QUESTION:

  15. QUESTION:
My Dog has severely irritated-red skin and hair loss...any help?
For the past 2 yrs. I have been in and out of the vet with medications for my, now 9 yr. old, shitzu. Since then his skin continues to worsen. He's always been very sensitive w/ his skin. He developed very early as a puppy an ear infection (which also we have tried and used everything to eliminate as much as possible). His vet tells me that they really have no idea what else to give him--I've even switched his doctor and went other places, nothing has helped yet. All they tell me is that they believe he is allergic to fleas, and although he has always been on frontline, it of course is not helping much because as soon as the flea bites his skin the damage is done. I am out of alternatives already...I have tried everything!: Changing his food, bathing him in oatmeal shampoo, skin oils, medication. I am willing to try anything...even home remedies. I can't do this to my baby anymore, he is miserable, he no longer has any hair on his bottom and has very thin hair on the rest of his body, only his skin is showing... his skin is inflammed and he is bleeding in several areas from his excessive biting.Any ideas would be of help, although it would be devastating to me to put my baby to sleep--that might be my next option, I think he's suffered enough...but I don't want to give up on him.

    Thanks in advance!

    • ANSWER:
If it is for sure the fleas. Hire and exterminator to spray your yard and house every month. This will help make it less likly she will come in contact with a flea. Also try revolution it is a more effective flea control.

For food allergies I know you switched foods but what to what. It's best if you can find a food with no corn, soy, or wheat. There are a lot of people who switch to a raw diet to cure allergies and have great success with it. If done correctly a raw diet is very healthy.

For shampoos if she has such bad allergies use only plain shampoos ones that have almost nothing in them.

There is a spray sold for hotspot (one that treats not prevents licking, it has a collie and other things on it) that helps sooth skin, we used when we had a rescued shephard allergic to grass. Our vet also had him on an antihisthamine and prednizone. Is he on something to help.

If nothing works and he's in constant pain I understand not wanting him to suffer, but try these first if you haven't already maybe you'll get a break through.

Good luck I hope your pup feels better soon.

  16. QUESTION:
Why is my hair falling out?
I'm 20 years old. Since I was about 16, I've noticed that my hair was thinning. It has continued throughout the years. I have a receding hairline that seems to be getting worse rapidly.

I just moved into a new house and that is about the time I noticed it start to fall out faster than normal. I thought that maybe it was something to do with the water. It's regular city water but after showers it feels different than when I would shower at my other house. It feels really flat, I guess is how I would explain it. I've also been dealing with a lot of stress from work, family, friends, etc.. I was looking up stress online and noticed that hair loss is one of the symptoms as well as lack of sleep, skin breakout, and some other things that I am also experiencing. The only other change that I could think of is, I'm a Medical Assistant and I work in a Spine and Pain office. Back in the beginning of July, The office started doing procedures in office. A fluoroscopy machine is used and I'm the one that operates it. Four days a week for 4-5 Hours at a time. Could the radiation from the machine have something to do with it?

I just want to know what's causing it so I can make it stop. It's not something that I'm too happy about. I'm constantly worrying about if people are noticing it.

Can someone tell me what they think is causing it or at least tell me what to do to stop it. Rodgaine only works for the back of the head and that's not where I have the problem. Any home remedies? Any suggestions at all would be helpful. Thanks in advanced.

    -Coty

    • ANSWER:
I would recommend you Propecia, Yes it is for the back of your head but you know that 3 of my friends and I have been taking it and it has stop the hair from falling, and I have kept what I had and regrew a little. Go to a doctor to get a prescription. I would also look in to the risks associated with that machine at work.

ive been losing a lot of hair these past few months?
my hair used to be thick and full, id have really nice curls, but ever since i thin like last winter or about 6-8 months ago ive been losing a ton of hair. i cant even scrunch my hair to look nice and wavy anymore and i barely ever straighten it. i used to use tresseme mousse but i totally stopped using hair products. i used pantene pro-v for a few years and then switched to aussie last feb but noticed even more hair loss and now im back to pantene.im only 16, what should i do? and what shampoo/home remedies should i try?

    • ANSWER:
If you've noticed such a huge difference, you need to talk to your doctor. They might want to do some blood tests to see if your iron levels or hormone levels are OK.

  19. QUESTION:
Anyone know what's wrong with my dwarf hamster?
She's almost 2 years old and has been having blood in her urine lately. She also seems to have thinning hair on her belly and is sleeping deeper. Otherwise, she acts healthy--loves to run around and explore still. She's on the paper fluff soft bedding and generally only eats hamster kibble, and I haven't noticed any molds/fungi if that helps.

So is she just getting old? That might explain the hair loss, but not the bleeding. It's been going on a few weeks and I don't think it's every time she relieves herself, so I don't know if it's serious or what.

Ideally, I'm looking for home remedies and stuff I can buy OTC. There's no small animal vets around, not that I have that kind of money.

    • ANSWER:
Since she's older, she probably is losing hair because of that, like you said.
The bleeding is most likely her losing her fertility (I don't know if that's called menopause in hamsters too, but that's what it's like).
You won't need to buy anything for her, just keep her warm and comfortable.
Who knows, she could live for another year if she had a healthy hammy life =]

Home Remedies For Hair Loss

Written By: admin - Nov• 01•12

You may be surprised to know that aside from prescription medicines, there are also many home remedies for diabetes that are readily available at home or in many local grocery stores. Before moving further, it would be better if you get a glimpse and broader understanding of diabetes and insulin.

Diabetes, also known as diabetes mellitus is the medical condition characterized by inability of the body to break down sugar resulting excessive sugar (glucose) level in the blood. The condition is marked by lost of energy either due to incapability to produce the hormone insulin or resistance to insulin. Insulin is the hormone that has the ability to lower glucose levels in the blood. Those who have diabetes experience increased hunger, increased thirst, and increased urination. Serious complications of diabetes may result to heart disease, vision problems, and a lot more. The condition is long-term and in some cases can be life-threatening.

Type 1 diabetes mellitus is formerly termed as insulin-dependent diabetes, marked by the body’s inability to produce insulin. Usual onset of this type is during childhood or early adult life; usually treated with insulin injections and dietary changes. Type 2 diabetes is marked by insufficient production of hormone insulin or the insulin available does not function effectively in the body; usual onset is beyond the age 40.

Common Home Remedies for Diabetes

• Did you know that mango leaves can help combat diabetic attacks? It may be surprising but boiling three to four pieces of mango leaves and drinking it in the morning is one of the most recommended home remedies for diabetes.

• Bitter gourd is also a beneficial remedy for diabetes. All you have to do is remove the seeds then soak in one cup water. Drain and drink preferably every morning.

• Reducing glucose level in the blood can also be achieved by regular intake of celery, cucumber, string beans, and garlic.

• Green plantain is also one of the well-known home remedies for diabetes. Wash and peel then put the peel in the jar filled with water. Drinking this mixture three to four times a day will be useful in fighting against diabetes.

• Cinnamon is also beneficial in lowering sugar levels in the blood. Add three tablespoons of cinnamon in one liter boiling water; simmer for twenty minutes and strain. Consume one liter of this mixture everyday as a part of your home remedy for diabetes.

Other common Home Remedies:

• Soybeans are very good for diabetes and also very healthy.

• Cucumbers, onions, and tomatoes are known to be effective in treating diabetes; you can dice them into a salad and eat daily. You will also get a lot of vitamins by eating the salad which is very good for you.

• 20-30 minutes walk everyday will help you treat the problem.

• Add garlic to your daily diet.

• Put 4-5 almonds in a cup of water before you go to bed. In the morning get the almond out of the water and eat.

• Drink cinnamon tea this will help balance the sugar levels in your body.

Since diabetes is a life-long condition, home remedies for diabetes would be useful in managing the condition.

  4. QUESTION:
is there any home remedies for hair loss treatment?
well...i would like to know about the remedies that can be easily prepared at home~

    • ANSWER:
Ginkgo biloba: This popular herb is thought to improve blood circulation to the brain and skin. Herbalists believe that the increased flow of blood to the brain area delivers more nutrients to the hair follicles thus promoting hair regrowth. The recommended dose is 120-160mg of dry extract each day spread over three doses.

Green tea (Camellia sinesis): It is thought that catechins found in green tea may inhibit the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase that converts testosterone into hair-unfriendly DHT. It is therefore believed to be effective in preventing and treating male pattern type baldness. You should drink several cups of green tea each day or take it in capsule form as instructed by the manufacturer.

He Shou Wu (Polygonum multiflorum): Also known as Fo-Ti, this Chinese herb has traditionally been used to reduce hair loss. It is found in many commercial preparations, or in tea and capsule form.

Pygeum (Pygeum africanum): Derived from the bark of an evergreen, it works in a similar way to green tea. It is widely used to treat prostate problems and male pattern baldness. Users should take 60-500mg per day in pill or capsule form.

Saw palmetto (Seranoa repens): This is the current treatment of choice for many men due to its ability to protect the prostate, slow hair loss and encourage hair regrowth. It forms the core element of many commercially prepared hair loss treatments but can easily be obtained in its pure form. The recommended dose is a 160mg capsule twice each day, but make sure the ingredients are made from the berry extract not the dried berries themselves.

Stinging nettle (Urtica diocia): This has long been favored as a means of preventing hair loss due to its ability to block the conversion of testosterone into DHT. It can be taken in pill or capsule form with an optimum dose of 50-100mg per day. It is particularly effective when combined with pygeum and saw palmetto.

lots of hair loss - home remedies?

  9. QUESTION:
what's good for hair loss any home remedies?
i'm 32 and my hair falls alot is thier any home remedies (natural)that i can do at home , i've heard about jalapenos ,to blend some jalapenos put it on your hair minutes before showering and it helps open your pores isit true or not?? please help

    • ANSWER:
Hair loss contributes to a lots of factors. Sleep should be proper. Minimum 6 hours of sound sleep. Drink plenty of fluids. 8 glasses minimum or even upto 8 litres per day. Water is the best drink I would suggest and it also cleanses the digestive system. Water drinking also improves hair health and hair growth, just like you water your plants. If less water, your plants die. Same logic applies for hair on our head. Try using one shampoo and stick to it. Also use a conditioner, dont use hot water, and dont use hair dryer. Wipe off the wetness of your wet hair with a soft bath towel. Use coconut oil as it really helps in hair growth and general and overall maintenance of your hair. Gingely oil also helps. Coconut oil a few drops before shower and it can also be utilized daily. But dont apply it on wet hair. Gingely oil you can use in large quantities and wait for 1 hour and take shower. Gingely oil can be applied all over your body also. This cools down the body heat and promotes hair growth. White part of the egg also helps in hair nutrition. So just apply and wait for 30 minutes and take a shower. And hair care is about what you eat also. If you are a meat eater, am sorry. Take more fish and that only helps. Omega 3 tablets if any if you are a vegetarian. The oil and mercury in it helps in hair growth and good for eye sight too. Eat more green leafy veggies. Thats the main important thing. Refrain from using hairsprays/hair color/hair gels/hair cream, mousse, wax and clay. Just leave it after washing. If you feel you got long hair, go for a trim or just leave it ... use coconut oil. Believe me, its an overall nutrition support system for daily maintenance of our head hair. Just a few drops will do. Thats it. Worst case scenario ... try to visit a dermatologist ... and sincerely follow what he/shesays.

  12. QUESTION:
Does anybody knows home remedies for hair loss treatment?

    • ANSWER:
if you want your hair to grow its important to nourish it from the inside out. i take multivitamin, biotin 5,000 IU, Vitamin E 400IU and super vitamin b-complex (yes that's what the vitamin is called) all of these can be found at walmart,CVS,etc. It will take at least 1 month to kick into your system. these are the basic components to healthy hair. if your hair isn't healthy it wont grow. Next try massaging the scalp with avocado, sweet almond oil, or jojoba oil with a few drops (3 drops at the most) of essential rosemary oil (once a week). all these can be found at a health good store or you can just mix the oil into your conditioner. you can also visit www.longhaircommunity.com they have allot of great info there. alot you can find DHT blocker at a healthfood store. to much DHT is what causes hair loss.

  13. QUESTION:
do you know of any home made remedies for hair loss?
i am a 19 yr old girl and my hair keeps falling even when i dont brush it. i have tried loreals anti breakage and pantene's full and thick shampoo but nothing seems to be working.

    • ANSWER:
This is a home remedy that really works. Someone who tried it (Answers questioner) just emailed me this letter. " i would like to thank u alot for ur answer , about getting bald, and i was amazed by the results,,,, it worked!!!! finally something worked, thank u very much," See my Best Answers.

It's a NATURAL, safe, permanent, low cost cure for this and most hair problems. Root cause of most is harsh, damaging ingredients in shampoos and other products and too frequent washing(read up on the harm it does) which inevitably denatures the hair AND scalp. By just stopping doing that healing happens. Avoid blow dryers, perms, straighteners, dyes, etc.- all ruin the hair. Best to use tea tree oil shampoo - or selenium based one with few drops of tea tree oil added. My hair was thin and and I was losing a lot - the following stopped the loss thickened hair.and caused new growth. To clear blocked hair ducts, dead follicles & return scalp to health it needs stimulation to start producing strong, well anchored thicker hair that doesn't shed. Contrary to some thinking that brushing would cause shedding or break hairs, I regularly brushed with a palm held, fairly stiff bristled brush (35 to 45 times). It is important to brush so that it irritates the scalp to a degree - this forces the new growth. A little shedding and some breakage occurs but only to begin with - it quickly stops as hair gets anchored and stronger. Keep it up and new hairs will grow longer and more will appear overtime. 4 times a week I massaged hair AND scalp with natural oil (olive oil or coconut is good) AFTER brushing and slept with it that way. Gives hair beautiful, healthy shine. My hair completely recovered - absolutely no more loss and hair is thick and strong. I now maintain a regular brushing(fewer strokes) and oiling routine and wash infrequently no more than every 2 weeks(read up on alternatives to washing).Get as much sun as possible(vital natural vitamin source). Eat healthily, with large proportion of raw foods and oils, drink fresh fruit juices, avoid denatured, processed foods, all sodas. I avoid restaurant foods(read up on what they do to food). I can be emailed(see my profile) if you want more info.

  14. QUESTION:
    Hair loss- Home remedies?
My hair is falling out): I use to straighten it 3 times a week if not more. And I have only dyed it once. But about 2 weeks ago it started to fall out by the roots. I don't think straightening would make it fall out by the roots right? It's scaring me. I have not straightened it in about a week or so. and It's still falling out. My diet isn't all that great and I'm under weight a bit. (108 lbs and 15 years old) I have been taking vitamins for about a week now and eating right. When I run my fingers through my entire hair about 15 hairs fall out): Are there any home remedies that will help me? How long will it take for my hair to stop falling out so much?

    • ANSWER:
Using anything I describe here will take time, at least 3-6 months before you see results as hair and nails are the last places your body puts nutrients because other places need them first, so eating right is a great first step.

Falling out like that is not normal except maybe under times of stress, so find out about seeing a dermatologist or Dr. to make sure your health is ok or that you don't have a thyroid problem because then they would have a special medication for hair loss that will work better for you.

Taking a multi vitamin is a great start, to balance out your diet with anything that is missing, but add two more "hair superstars" to the mix: Biotin, and Omega oils. My biotin supplements come with 1mg each. I take 3 a day, as well as 2 a day of the Omega oils (3 and 6 are the best, look for ones with DHA or EPA. ALA is a cheap source and not worth it) Make sure you get enough calcium daily as well, from dairy products not pills. For your age I think it's 4 cups of milk a day.

If you want to try new hair products, I really recommend DOO GRO, It uses mostly natural ingredients and very few chemicals in its products (unlike say Pantene which is all chemicals and 2 vitamins) it really changed the health of my hair since using it and it has grown longer! I think what it does is makes your hair healthy so it can grow normally as opposed to actually making your hair grow, but I use it, I love it, and it worked for me. Good Luck.

Being underweight shouldn't be a problem, most people think they are underweight and they are not, just seems that way in an overly heavy world now.

  15. QUESTION:
i m 22 and losing hairs on sideways and some scalp. some easy home remedies to prevent hair loss?
Thanks in advance for suggestion, but be authentic and don't suggest Dihydroxytestoterone included drugs.

    • ANSWER:
For young men in their 20s, and 30s, hair loss can be devastating to their self-esteem. Hair loss in this age group seems rare, but in fact it is becoming more and more common as time passes. Surprisingly, it is hard to find an effective DHT blocker on the market that is going to work for almost everyone that takes it. And since taking an ineffective product means you are allowing the DHT to kill more hair follicles, it becomes even more vital to find a product that can effectively block DHT right away. Only Procerin ( http://www.procerin.com/premium/ ) has been found to stop DHT from being created without any side effects. It is the best way to stop DHT available.

  17. QUESTION:
what are some home remedies for hair loss?
    my hair keeps falling out

    • ANSWER:
Hair loss, also known as baldness refers to excessive hair loss from scalp and can be the result of heredity, certain medications or an underlying medical condition.

It is normal to shed some hair each day as part of a cycle of growing new hairs and loosing some.
However, some people may experience excessive hair loss which might cause baldness.
Hair loss of this type can affect men, women and children.

So now that we know what it is, we need to know how to deal with it. For that I added a few natural remedies you can try:

      1. Yemeni med: Soak fenugreek (Hilba) in deep pot of water throughout the night. Massage the liquid into the scalp and wrap with a cloth for 3 hours. Repeat everyday for 1 month.

      2. Massage the scalp with uncooked egg yolk, leave for 1 hour and wash.

      3. Smear Red Henna on the scalp and wait for 1 hour, then wash, Repeat for 10-14 days. Be ware- your hair will turn red from the henna!

      4. Smear castor oil on the scalp and the hair roots but not on the hair, wrap the hair with a newspaper, tie with a cloth and leave overnight, wash in the morning. Repeat every 7-10 days (results will come after 6-7 treatments).

      5. Boil 1 cup of water, add 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds, cook for 5 minutes, cool and drink.
      6. Blanch scented geranium leaves in boiling water, strain, cool and use to wash the hair.

      7. Rub olive oil into the scalp to reduce hair loss.

      8. Boil rosemary leaves in water, strain and save the liquid in a glass bottle. Use to wash the hair every day. You can also put the rosemary water in a sprayer and spray the hair every morning.
      Good Luck

    • ANSWER:
year ago I suffered very much from dandruff and hair loss too and I started trying everything you can imagine to stop my hair loss.
the things that really worked for me was:

      1) Vitamin A - an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp;

      2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The 'B' vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation;

      3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage;

      4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice(you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three);

      5) also he used herbal treatment - TrichoZed or/and Provilluss (do not use Rogaine - it will not work!)
Those are a good products that helps prevent hair loss and contains Biotin and the clinically tested ingredients approved by the FDA to help re-grow your hair.! I think it is very important!

  19. QUESTION:
what can I do for hair loss using home remedies?

    • ANSWER:
Prenatal vitamins. One of my best friends is taking this, as recommended by her doctor. (She's not pregnant. But her hair has been thinning lately and losing luster.)

Or flax seed. You can either take the flax seed as a capsule made from the oil, or as a pill, or eat the natural flax seed. Buy it at a health food store and add to cereals or stews.

My great grandma was going bald from cancer before she died. Since her hair had been her one vanity (she still had naturally dark hair into her 80's) she wanted to do something to keep it. She was taking flax seed in her cereal for a year prior to her death, and her hair was coming back in thicker than ever and dark again (the cancer had also turned it gray).

  22. QUESTION:
any body know what product or home remedy for hair loss?
{I have long hair, (half down my back. and it's been falling so much lately, every time I brush it or evrytimr I showers I see a lot of hair falling out, maybe a little more than the usual. I dye my hair every 3 months, and use hair dryer, or hair streighteners not very often just like once a week. Anyone know something about it?

  23. QUESTION:
Anyone know of a home remedy for hair loss that is effective? My hair is so thin now, I cant hide the baldspots?
I need something that actually make the hair grow back if anyone knows....Thanks

    • ANSWER:
This natural, safe treatment truly stops loss almost straight away and forces new growth (can send you testimonials). Massage thoroughly with olive or any natural oil - then brush vigorously using a palm held brush with short natural boar bristles - soft bristled for fine straight hair and stiff bristled for thicker non straight hair- so you really feel it stimulating scalp - 90 /100 strokes at beginning building up to more - each day, focusing on where loss is. Will heal scalp and unplug blocked hair ducts that sometimes cause loss - they are the painful small itching spots. A little shedding and breakage may occur at first but quickly stops as brushing makes hair stronger and better anchored. Hair will grow fast, thicker and It will force the new growth. Initially new hairs will be weak looking and sparse. Don't be concerned if brushing uproots them as they will re-appear even stronger. My hair has completely regrown on crown. Where receded at front regrowth was slower and sparse at first then each month it became denser. It demands perseverance week in, week out to get the same results.
Thinning and loss can be caused by many shampoos - particularly anti dandruff ones - and hair products that contain countless hair, scalp and even health harming harsh and toxic ingredients. Find "Non harmful shampoos, etc" with Google searches. Some will come up and be expensive or only available on-line so refine search by adding "low cost". Available in GNC, Trader Joes, Some Walmart Stores, Cost Plus, Wegmans, Earth Fare, natural & health foods stores.
I Have had feed back from others. One had substantial regrowth in just 6 months.
      Wish you the best.

As a stylist, I'll tell you there's no home remedy for hair loss. There's a hair product line called Nioxin you can buy at most salons. It re-stimulates your follicles and promotes hair growth. But you really want to see a dermatologist for alopecia.

  29. QUESTION:
Home remedies or natural stuff for hair loss?

    • ANSWER:
"Hair loss, are lived everyday like a real poison. Simple actions in everyday life, combined with appropriate shampoo will help keep your beautiful and strong.

      Simple actions:

      - Be sure to massage your scalp before applying your shampoo. Making circular movements of the neck to the top of the skull will activate blood circulation, the growth will be even better. Activating the microcircualtion make your scalp more sensitive to the care you use.

      - If your hair is greasy, wash them frequently. The excess sebum scalp asphyxiation and accelerates the fall. Choose a neutral pH shampoo for frequent use and do good lather up to release its active agents. The treatment shampoos containing stripping agents that sensitize the hair and make it more fragile. It is therefore strongly advised to follow the advice of your pharmacist or dermatologist (or better yet, an expert from baldness).

      - At the end of your shampoo, rinse your hair with lukewarm water. The rinsing time should always be longer than washing. It must remain no residue of shampoo in the hair.

  30. QUESTION:
Home remedies for stronger longer hair?
I've suffered significant hair loss due to excessive heat styling (compared to how it was before) I was wondering if there were any home remedies that can make my hair grow stronger and make it grow longer as well. Im aware that excessive heat styling leaves your hair w/o moisture etc. but i still do it due to the fact that my hair is extremely curly and difficult to manage. Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
I hve really thick culy hair, and so straightened it alot and it made it really dry,so now wat i do is i only wash it once maybe twice a week(like a friday or saturday night)and let it dry naturally overnight and then next day i straighten it,even if there are a few bits that are still a bit damp. Then i put serum on and only straighten it a tiny bit if necissary before i go to school in the mornings.that really reduced the heat damage for me.As for making your hair grow stronger and longer, when you wash you hair you can get these moisturising conditioners that you leave in for 5 mins instead of conditioning and they really help,or you can just use oil and heat it up slightly(not to much obvioulsy you dont want to burn)and then just put that on your hair ,wrap your hair up in a warm towel and leave for a minimum of half an hour, just remeber to thouroughly wash your hair afterwards.hope this helps!

  32. QUESTION:
home remedy for hair loss & hair growth?

    • ANSWER:
When my dad started losing his hair in his late 40s, my mom started making him cut off a section of aloe vera plant, split the tough exterior open, and rub the slimy insides directly onto his scalp. It looks and feels gross (although aloe vera smells good and is proven to be good for the skin, which is why it's in all those expensive lotions), but my dad grew his hair back within 6 months. It's been 20 years and he still has a full head of hair.

any home remedy for a hair loss and hair growth?

    • ANSWER:
Buddy, this works for me and no harm in trying this. Take equal quantity of coconut oil, gingley oil and castor oil. Heat this. Take onion (smaller ones) and garlic, cut this into smaller pieces. Once the oil is well heated, put these onion and garlic pieces. Remember to take care, as the oil will start spilling once you put onion and garlic. Wait till the onion pieces are roasted in hot oil. Store this in a container (this would be stinky) and take few drops and apply this daily in your forehead and on your back of your head.
Also, be considerate while you are massaging your hairs. Don't rub too hard, while you apply oil or while you are using a towel.

My brother is 26 years old and is experiencing hair loss. He is lossing a lot of it. What is good for hair growth? What has worked for you or someone you know? Help needed. Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
      Hi There,

Thanks to modern technology and medicine, there are a number of solutions for hair loss. There are drugs and hair transplant surgeries that do work. I had a restoration surgery back in July and couldn't be happier with my results. Since receiving the procedure I have kept a blog called BattleAgainstBald.com. The blog details the results of my Bosley hair transplant and I also provide a wealth of information on hair loss and the other methods used to correct it.

If your brother isn't one for surgical procedures he might consider Propecia or Rogaine (Minoxidil) to stop future hair loss and possibly re grow some lost hair as well. I have also blogged a lot about the laser comb, which is a new device, but no one really knows how well it works yet.

I encourage you to check out BattleAgainstBald.com, as I'm sure the information there can answer a lot of your, as well as your bothers hair loss questions.

      Best of luck!
      -Seth

    • ANSWER:
If you haven’t used T/Gel shampoo, you should give it a shot. It helps normalize dry scalp, which is often associated with hair loss. In the case of greasy hair, I suspect It would also help. It smells like tar but the stuff works great.
I don’t know of any homemade hair loss treatments. But, if you are considering natural hair loss products, consider checking out a comparison site before making a decision. The blog I reference below has a link to a site that compares several hair loss products for women as well as men.

Hair loss can be for several reasons that fit two main categories, excessive loss or lack of production.
Basically your friend could be looking at an underlying bacterial infection, fungal infection, hormonal problem, parasites, allergies, etc.
The only way to start ruling things in/out is to go to a vet.

    • ANSWER:
Healthy hair growth starts with good nutrition. Your hair needs certain nutrients to grow properly. This can be achieved by getting enough of the right fats, vitamins, and minerals from your diet, or from dietary supplements. There are also some other supplements that may also be able to help, like saw palmetto, Pygeum Africanum, MSM, and grape seed extract. I like Caribbean Hair Grow. You should talk to your doctor before you do, or take anything, and also do your own research (wikipedia, pubmed, etc.) as well. Check out the article link below for some useful information. Hope this helps...

Please share some personal experience if anyone benefited by using these product.

    • ANSWER:
Dove is better. SLS free herbal shampoos don't really do much difference. I use dove shampoo and conditioner. It's really good for hair, light and keeps hair clean and healthy. It's especially good for curly or wavy hair. Your hair doesn't get frizzy. I like it. You only need small amount of it to wash your hair properly. It's cheap and the smell is very nice! It adds shine to hair. :)

    • ANSWER:
MOST SERIOUS CAUSE OF LOSS IS SHAMPOOS. Many have countless hair, scalp and even health harming harsh and toxic ingredients. See this site "Skin Deep Database -:A Feelgood Resource" and "Not Just a Pretty Face." Look in shampoos and you will see which are the most harmful.and others which are safe or only minimally harming.

Read this testimonial just emailed to me from: Mo Sratum(on Answers)
      Subject: HAIR LOSS! OMG!
      Message: Hi,
"You may remember me, Mo Satrum, the guy with the constant questioning about the hair loss, well I've been doing it for 2 months now and it's working wonders! My hair loss increased the first few weeks but it gradually slowed down and my hair is gradually going back to normal as it were before. I was always told that hair loss was genetic and you could do nothing about it, but you've proved everyone wrong and even I had my doubts before starting your treatment but I cannot describe how much you've turned my life around! Thank you I don't know where I would be without you"

In my teens I suffered severe loss. Then this NATURAL, safe treatment stopped loss almost straight away and forced new growth. It has helped others on ANSWERS.

TREATMENT: Massage olive or any pure, natural oil into scalp, Extra virgin olive, coconut and grape seed work well. Then brush vigorously preferably using a palm held brush with short natural boar bristles.(Quite stiff bristles is best) You can see them on Amazon - they are known as military brushes.

Brush strongly so you feel it stimulating/irritating scalp. Do 90 /100 strokes each day at beginning building up to more and focus on where loss is. You may be apprehensive about irritating scalp - believe me I was too. But this is what will force new growth as it unplugs the blocked hair ducts that sometimes cause loss - they are the painful small itching spots.
As you brush some shedding and breakage may occur at first but will quickly stop as brushing makes hair better anchored and stronger. New hairs will appear.and will be weak looking and sparse. Keep up the brushing and do not be concerned if brushing uproots them, as they will re-appear even stronger.

My hair has completely regrown on crown. Where receded at front regrowth was slower and sparse at first then each month it became denser. It demands perseverance week in/week out to get the same results.

I only wash hair with a totally safe, totally pure soap bar with no toxins - no coloring, no fragrances, no preservatives, no harmful additives of any kind.
You can find similar ones in GNC, Trader Joes, some Walmart Stores, Cost Plus, Wegmans, Earth Fare, and some natural & health foods stores.

I believe I escaped the fate of my grandfather, my father, my two younger brothers and an 18 year old nephew through this treatment. All are, or were, completely, or very nearly bald. So I feel this treatment has disproved the genetics theory.

SOURCE(S): Many years research, self experimentation using natural treatments for hair loss, regrowth and cures of skin, scalp and hair disorder

  49. QUESTION:
what are some natural things at home to use on your hair?
Im looking for some "things around the house" that you can use alone/ combine on your hair. example:honey, EVOO... and if you know what it does to your hair when you use it, thanks.

      1) Vitamin A - an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp;

      2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The 'B' vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation;

      3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage;

      4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice(you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three);

It enhances hair growth by blocking DHT (Dihydrotestostrone) - a major cause of hair loss!

      good luck!

Hair loss is a very common problem among people. In most cases abnormal loosing of hair is a sign of health problems. What is abnormal loosing of hair? Do not panic if you loose from 50 to 100 hair per day – this is normal. If you clearly lose more or you see hairless spots on your head – see your doctor.

  7. QUESTION:
is there any home remedies for hair loss treatment?
well...i would like to know about the remedies that can be easily prepared at home~

Any cure for hair loss/ baldness? Home remedies please?
this is not for me but my cousin ( who's right here, wanting me to write this) has a major problem (hair LOSS) with hair and can't afford expensive things so just some links and suggestions would be fine. remember it has to be natural not include chemicals you know HOME REMEDIES! thx! and yea you are doin me a HUGE FAVOR!

    • ANSWER:
year ago I suffered very much from dandruff and hair loss too and I started trying everything you can imagine to stop my hair loss.
the things that really worked for me was:

      1) Vitamin A - an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp;

      2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The 'B' vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation;

      3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage;

      4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice(you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three);

It worked and still works for me!

I do not know if any pharmacies carry TrichoZed but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here

      http://www.trichozed.info/ingredients.php

(TrichoZed™ will produce noticeable hair growth in 30 to 45 days. A consistent use of TrichoZed™ ensures permanent results within 6 months. Further use shall maintain optimal health of your hair.)

      and here

      http://www.provillus.com/?aid=221781

(Provillus™ will produce noticeable hair growth in 40. A consistent use of TrichoZed™ ensures permanent results within ~5 months.)

It enhances hair growth by blocking DHT (Dihydrotestostrone) - a major cause of hair loss!

Also Informative video about Provillus - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ydvCHhbRkk

      good luck!

  17. QUESTION:
do you know of any home made remedies for hair loss?
i am a 19 yr old girl and my hair keeps falling even when i dont brush it. i have tried loreals anti breakage and pantene's full and thick shampoo but nothing seems to be working.

  18. QUESTION:
i m 22 and losing hairs on sideways and some scalp. some easy home remedies to prevent hair loss?

  19. QUESTION:
what can I do for hair loss using home remedies?

  22. QUESTION:
what are some home remedies for hair loss?
    my hair keeps falling out

    • ANSWER:
Try these four natural remedies instead of wasting your money on expensive products. Some are home remedies, but these will definitely help you out.

Let me know what you think!

      1. Vitamin B7 Biotin
      - This type of B-complex vitamin does well to encourage hair
growth, strengthen hair and prevent hair loss.

      2. Egg treatment
      - You may not like the idea of dumping egg on your head but the fact remains that it can remedy your hair loss. It's able to strengthen your hair.

      3. Change your shampoo
-Take a look at your shampoo and see if it contains Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) or Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate (ALS)? These are corrosive ingredients and are used in household and commercial cleaners such as car wash soap, engine degreaser, and garage floor cleaners. It is said to attack your hair follicles and interfere with hair growth.

      4. Aloe Vera
-Why not follow the footsteps of the Native Americans, Indians and Caribbeans in using Aloe Vera to keep skin, scalp and hair
healthy. Not only does it prevent excessive hair loss but also
      encourages hair growth.

  27. QUESTION:

3 tablespoons of chamomile (tea bag content is fine to use)

      Instructions:

      1) Peel garlic and use a garlic press to squeeze the juice out

      2) Mix it with honey and place the bowl in the fridge

      3) Boil water with chamomile tea for about 30 minutes

      4) Stir occasionally

      5) When tea is done, take the bowl with honey and garlic juice out of the fridge

      10) To finish off, wash your hair off with the previously prepared chamomile tea.

Use this mix once a week.

      Wish you the best.

    home-made remedies for hair loss?
    oh,and I have curly hair!thanks:-)

    • ANSWER:
year ago I suffered very much from dandruff and hair loss too and I started trying everything you can imagine to stop my hair loss.
the things that really worked for me was:

      1) Vitamin A - an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp;

      2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The 'B' vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation;

      3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage;

      4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice(you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three);

      5) also he used herbal treatment - TrichoZed and Provilluss (do not use Rogaine - it will not work!)
Those are a good products that helps prevent hair loss and contains Biotin and the clinically tested ingredients approved by the FDA to help re-grow your hair.! I think it is very important!

  35. QUESTION:
Major hair loss, any cure, home remedies?
    HELP! (to cousin)

    • ANSWER:
Do you face hair loss and wish to learn the most curative treatments that you can employ to stop the hair loss condition effectively? Make sure you read this article now. In this article, I will share with you some of the greatest and most powerful solutions that I've personally practiced to treat hair loss and promote new hair regrowth.

Facing The Major Element of Hair Loss

The leading cause of thinning and balding hair is really DHT or dihydrotestosterone, a hormone that inclines to bind itself to your hair follicles and other receptor sites. As a direct result, your hair follicles get trapped, reduced and stuffed thus stimulating loss of hair and baldness.

For this reason, it is most effective that you put in most if not all of your effort on zapping and containing dihydrotestosterone. There are a good number of very effective treatments you can use to attain that goal:

Use finasteride, minoxidil and other drugs to control DHT.
Use the nature's most remedial herbs. Herbs like saw palmetto and pygeum are extraordinary natural DHT inhibiting agents that work just as capable as, if not stronger than most drug-based treatments.
Make several modifications to your everyday dieting and eating habits. Drink more water and cut down on the intake of fats and sugar.
Get sufficient amount of sleep and reduce stress. Not getting enough sleep every day and extreme stress induce your body to manufacture and discharge more baldness-causing DHT.

      Promoting Good Hair Growth

While stopping unnecessary loss of hair is very essential in treating the alopecia problems you are facing, so is restoring solid regrowth of the hair. To accomplish a thicker and much firmer hair regrowth, you can try these tips:

    • ANSWER:

      -Seth

what are the home remedies to lengthen and strengthen the hair?
my hair is getting shorter and shorter by going on trimming as said trimming of split ends increase the growth and i have tried many remedies to grow as egg+olive oil yoghurt+henna .i use pantene repair and protect shampoo and an ayurvedic oil from india but stilll hair loss is too much n no growth

    • ANSWER:
Hair loss could be a sign of a nutritional deficiency, low blood pressure or other restriction that means that the scalp is not getting as much oxygenated blood as it should e.g through hormonal imbalance or stress. Your hair is a reflection of inner health - washing, cleaning and conditioning it will add a superficial gloss but because hair is already dead, nothing will make it intrinsically healthier (as you can probably tell from the home remedies you have been using) - this can only be done internally and can only be done to encourage new healthier hair growth.

Amla (gooseberry oil) is said to improve the colour and lustrousness of the hair. Massaging any good quality oil into the scalp e.g. amla, almond, olive, coconut (particularly beneficial) or even baby oil will improve the circulation to the scalp and will help promote a healthier scalp and thus healthier regrowth. It may even stimulate the hair follicles to produce more hair.

Hope this helps you somewhat though it might be an idea to consult a doctor to ensure there is no underlying condition causing the hair loss such as alopecia, which causes hair to fall out in large amounts.

      All the best!

  50. QUESTION:
is there any home made hair-loss treatment?
i have a hereditary hair-loss problem. my paternal family has the problem and almost all of them are going bald. am a girl and my having severe hair-loss. i fear that if this continues for some more years, i will go bald. i need help if you have any home-made/ home remedies. anything that i should eat/drink/use/apply, etc would help me decrease my hair loss. another problem is that i have tremendously greasy/oily scalp so i have to wash my hairs every 2 days and due to this i have more hair-loss.
    please i need help.
    thank you.

Herbs To Stop Hair Loss

Written By: admin - Oct• 31•12

Most people grow frustrated with the many hair loss remedies because they simply don't deliver what was promised. Hair loss can lead to many problems, including low self-esteem, emotional stress and even poor communication skills.

For herbal remedies, you can have a final rinse of apple cider vinegar and sage tea to stimulate hair growth. Licorice extract may also prevent hair loss. Horsetail is another option since it is rich in silica. Just put 2 tablespoons of horsetail in 4 ounces of hot water and add it to your baby shampoo. Massaging your scalp daily with stinging nettle, birch, horsetail and rosemary may also stimulate hair growth. It also disinfects the scalp and increases blood circulation in the head area. Tea made from raspberry and blackberry leaves may also be drank or applied to scalp to stimulate the growth of hair.

Try applying coconut milk all over your scalp as a natural hair loss remedy. For a change, crush black pepper and lime seeds in equal measure in a little bit of water, and put it everyday on your scalp. It is effective as a home based natural hair loss remedy.

Treating prostrate- research and studies have shown a definite connection between hair loss and prostrate in men. Saw Palmetto has been proven effective in treating "benign prostate disease" by considerably lowering the levels of DHT which is known as the definite cause of androgenic alopecia.

To soothe itching and help heal the scalp, Panthenol, Jojoba Oil and Emu Oil are used to penetrate the scalp and act as an anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial compound. Emu Oil has been used extensively in hair loss products and skin care for its ability to penetrate the dermal layers and help soothe itchiness, flaking, redness and irritation.

Increasing your nutrient intake could also improve your overall health. Many foods are high in calories, but very low in nutritive value. Some researchers believe that the lack of nutrients in foods, these days, is a contributing factor to the obesity epidemic.

Green tea is an effective hair growth treatment for female pattern baldness. The tea contains compounds which prevent the production of a hormone which causes female pattern baldness. This treatment works when it applied directly to the scalp.

  4. QUESTION:
What Natural Medications or herbs can I use to reverse or stop Male pattern baldness at age 17?
I know that Rogaine and Propecia can help, but are there any medications that are natural that can regrow hair, or slow down and stop hair loss? It's really Important because I'm 17 and i'm experiencing Male-pattern baldness.

    • ANSWER:
I started going bald at about the same age. I was too stubborn to start using anything at the time because I was in denial. What you should know is that once you start losing your hair, the more time that passes by, the harder it will be to regrow your hair.

There are products that claim to stop hair loss and some claim to regrow hair. You can try Nioxin shampoo. It's herbal and has a decent track record. It's pricey because there are three products that you use concurrently. There are other kinds to. Nisim is one whose effectiveness is unproven. If you aren't interested in any of those, I would then recommend using shampoo with tea tree oil but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Rogaine and Propecia are the only products that have been scientifically proven to regrow hair. The hair you grow from using Propecia is supposedly better but Propecia also has sexual side effects that I don't want any part of. Rogaine is good. I use that foam they started showing on TV. Don't be discouraged. They say it takes two months to work. I should start to see some results soon. The stuff is pricey too.

If you do go bald, I must advise you to wear a hat outside or else put sunscreen on your head. Burned, blistering scalp is gross. The blisters pop and ooze and scab over. Then your scalp will peel. It's just as disgusting as it sounds.

  5. QUESTION:
hypothyroidism and hair loss: is there a way to stop hair loss associated with Hashimoto's disease? Also,?
what do you think is the best brand of thyroid medication--no 'health/herb' treatments please. My case is too severe for that.

    • ANSWER:
I agree with you that herbal and nutritional treatments are a waste of money. Hypothyroidism is a hormone based immune system disease requiring medical care--it is not just "stress!" When I read your question, I was hoping you might get some helpful answers since I have the same problem.
I've tried a variety of shampoos, conditioners, herbal, and other nutritional mumbo-jumbo, to no avail.
I'm assuming that you, like me, eat a healthy diet. I hope you get an answer that gives more information than just a link to yet another hebal . . site.
Don't you wish people would read your question before giving answers you don't want?

if losing ~100 hair per day the it is normal!
anyway hair loss can be caused by many different reasons! Find out the actual cause of hair loss! There are many causes of loss of hair such as stress, poor nutrition ,medications, thyroid dysfunctions, illness, fungal infections ,hormonal problems, to mention a few. but anyway you can always try and get real results.

year ago I suffered from hair loss and since hair loss is hereditary my dad suffered from it too and I started trying everything you can imagine to stop my hair loss. the things that really worked for me was:

      1) Vitamin A - an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp;

      2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The 'B' vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation;

      3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage;

      4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice(you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three);

      5) also you should use some herbal treatment.in that case Provillus is a good product that helps prevent hair loss and it is an FDA approved product. I think it is very important!

It worked and still works for me!

I do not know if any pharmacies carry Provillus but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here http://www.provillus.com/?aid=749165

  8. QUESTION:
What is causing my hair loss?!?!?
    So,
About a month ago I noticed I was losing quite a bit of hair in the shower and in my brush after I'd brush it out. I was dieting pretty hard core and had not been as responsible with my meal plan as I normally was and realized one of my supplements had a thyroid support in it. Blaming it completely on my supplements (which I had taken year prior w/ no complication) and my lack of nutrients, I stopped dieting and taking the supplements and stuck to my regular prenatal vitamins, topped with folic acid, and Nioxin Intensive Therapy Recharging Complex Supplements containing vitamins, herbs, and amino acids to help. Since then I have seen no stop to my hair loss. I just started a new job and it is stressful as ever but it's random spurts of stress. I have noticed when I lose hair there are small strands of hair so I can definitely see I'm not having a problem with hair growth, just keeping it in tact after it grows. I had recently gotten off all birth control methods so I decided to go to the Dr to see if it is hormone related, or if I possibly have a thyroid, or anemia, etc. My Dr. did a blood test and I am not anemic, I don't have diabetes, my thyroid is healthy, and my hormone levels are perfectly normal. She did notice maybe a little dandruff. I purchased selsun blue medicated and have used it for about a week. I am noticing my scalp is pretty itchy as it had been before I visited the Dr. She referred me to a dermatologist but my appt isn't until September, I'm going to be bald by then!! I cannot for the life of me figure out what else it could be. I'm going to try some natural oil treatments today, thinking maybe it's a scalp dryness issue as opposed to dandruff and my selsun blue could be irritating that even more. Please let me know if you have any ideas, I'm at my wits end and I don't think the stress is helping my situation!
And a couple more details, I am breaking out horribly, and have not had a period in almost 2 months! I think more from the stress of the hair loss...?

There is Biotin Vitamins then there is Procerin, and then Saw Palmetto, i'm stuck.. Please someone help me out.. I don't to stop this while I can.. before all my hair falls out!! Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
Reasons why that might have happened:

      1. During the last 3 years, OK 2, how have you been styling or have you been straightening & dyeing or highlighting your hair?
Google FDA website Hair dye & relaxers. Those are 75% the reason why.

      2. Have you been taking supplements or using hair oil? Supplements ( billions are wasted and could hurt your lungs, liver, organs). FDA has found that from face creams to soaps and other items of personal care, cosmetics companies are taking the general public for a ride. Oil could be coming from eels or shark. Another 5% why. CNN, Slate, Consumer Reports, MSN, YAHOO have posted them online for years how people spend billion per year on vitamins and supplements.  According to Everyday Health, here's an article that will tell you why . . . those PRODUCTS by any other name do NOT WORK.  It is false advertisements. Google: Are Supplements Good For You? About 7,430,000 results (0.15 seconds) Google: Are vitamins & supplements good for you? About 4,250,000 results (0.14 seconds) Some can actually shorten your life! The Food & Drug do not approve of them!

      3. Have you been stressed out or changed your diet? Genetics of balding runs in your family? Another 10% why.

      4. Have you been taking medications with testosterone, certain antidepressants, menopause, anti-acne? Even birth control pills can cause hair loss. The medication most often prescribed for thyroid disorders can actually cause hair loss. Another 10% why you have hair falls.

Do you know what's in the biotin?
Biotin - cauliflower, liver, salmon, carrots, bananas, cereals, yeast, and soy flour. Keep in mind that biotin content is reduced when food is cooked or preserved.

Eliminate the 'cause' before you find 'solution' and your hair will improve.

      Source(s):
I know hair. I have over 4 decades of hair know-how. I have silky, shiny, soft, smooth very healthy hair down to my knees. Previously damaged by perming & dyeing in the 80's & 90's. I've known people in their 30's whose hair stopped growing from ironing their hair in the 70's.

  12. QUESTION:

    Do Wolfberries help stop hairloss?
my mom recently started losing hair and i decided to some research and found that Wolf berrries help fight hair loss . Does any1 know if this is true and if it isnt wat other herbs can help fight hair loss

    • ANSWER:
There is no mention about hair, here.

      Wolfberry
      Lycium chinense

The fruit of the matrimony vine or Chinese boxthorn sometimes called boxthorn berries. The soft, slightly bitter leaves are used in soups or cooked with pork. The berries have a pleasant, slightly sweet taste and while not adding strong flavour, blend with other seasonings and add a touch of bright colour. For tonic purposes they are mainly added to soup or congee. Sold dried in packets.

Medicinal uses: In Chinese medicine wolfberries are believed to help both vision and kidney function. Publications dealing with medicinal properties of plants reveal that the berries are indeed rich in carotene so the claim of improving eyesight does have some nutritional basis. They also contain vitamin C and are combined with other herbs to retard ageing and are credited with lifting the spirits. China: gau gei jee, kei chi, ji zi (berries), gau gei choi (leaves)

Herbs And Vitamins For Hair Loss

Written By: admin - Oct• 30•12

Women experiencing hair loss may want to try a topical treatment with herbs. The topical treatment is 100% natural, works in the scalp and there are not any side effects. Women suffering from hair loss may want to try an herb treatment that is topical such as ho-shou-wu, ligature or morus fruit. Women may want to try hot pepper or ginger to use as a strong circulatory stimulant. Blood bolstering herbs can help with microcirculation and are internal therapies.

Many women want to try herbs as most times drugs will curb symptoms whereas herbs work with the body to help heal it.

Such herbs include Ginko Biloba which helps the flow of blood to the brain circulate, as well as the skin. Hair regrowth is the thought to be the outcome due to extra nutrients being delivered to the hair follicles.

Fo-Ti or He Shou Wu, the Chinese herb, is used by women to help prevent gray hair and/or hair loss. You may purchase He Shou Wu in a capsule or tea.

Vitamins that will help prevent hair loss include folic acid, vitamin A, and vitamin E.

The best vitamin to take to keep your hair healthy is folic acid. Pregnant women take folic acid and if a woman wants to continue to have healthy hair and keep her hair, folic acid will help tremendously. Folic acid is a preventative measure to keep your hair from falling out. Women can find folic acid supplements over-the-counter or eat foods such as soybeans and nuts.

Vitamin A is an excellent source to prevent hair loss in women. Vitamin A will keep your hair healthy by keeping your hair from becoming brittle and dry. The hair follicles will become healthy due to cell growth around the hair follicles. Certain fruits and vegetables such as salad, peppers, carrots and tomato are a fantastic option to get vitamin A. Liver and eggs are also a good source of vitamin A.

Lastly vitamin E offers healthy blood flow which will give the scalp adequate blood circulation. Women can find vitamin E in lettuce, spinach, whole grains and nuts.

Herbal Vitamins For Hair Loss

Written By: admin - Oct• 30•12

It is an undeniable fact that everything we take in affects our health. The food we eat, the vitamins and minerals we take all promote healthy functioning of our body systems. The more good stuff we take in the better. This also holds true for our hair.

Prevent Hair From Falling This Winter

Cold weather is particularly harsh on hair. It causes dryness, brittleness, frizziness, dandruff, split ends and excessive hair fall. We say excessive because you are naturally shedding hair every day, but the normal rate is about 100 strands a day. If you find yourself constantly picking up fallen hair on your clothes, chairs, cars and on the floor, you better have yourself checked because excessive hair fall could eventually lead to hair loss and may indicate an underlying problem that needs to be treated.

Hair loss can be brought about by any of these factors: change in hormonal levels, aging, stress, poor diet and certain medications. Your body requires nourishment all the time, more when you're stressed out to avoid stress related illnesses like fatigue, insomnia and hypertension. During the cold months, it is easier to see how the different systems of the body are affected by weather changes. Picture people with pallid complexion, having weak weak nails, suffering from poor vision, feeling lethargic, and of course, falling or thinning hair.

Save Your Hair With Supplements

According to hair experts, 90 percent of human hair is growing while the remaining 10 percent is in a resting stage. The continuous growth cycle (yes it does not slow down during the winter months) demands a steady and regular supply of vitamins and minerals to sustain the development and growth of healthy and strong hair. If the hair follicles don't receive the kind of nutrition they need, they will shrink and eventually die out. Unhealthy hair follicles will result to a thin head of hair, some bald patches or weak and damaged hair which falls off easily.

If you feel that fresh fruits and vegetables will be hard to come by during the cold months, or maybe you're anticipating the heavy drinking and cholesterol laden food from the holiday celebrations, better stock up on extra vitamins and minerals as well as herbal hair care supplements. Yes, there are tablets which contain all the necessary hair nutrition minerals you will need. You can buy them over the counter at any drug store or order them conveniently online. They are one hundred percent natural, safe to use and are affordable.

Herbal hair supplements contain a generous supply of natural botanicals, vitamins and minerals. This healthy blend energizes our hair follicles, which results to faster growing, healthier, and stronger hair.

A healthy diet is highly recommended to prevent hair loss during the cold months. Try to get enough calcium and take in as much fresh fruits and vegetables as you can. Drink plenty of water too to hydrate your hair, and start taking herbal hair supplements. Your hair should be the star of the holiday season. Take care of your hair and do everything you can to keep it from falling out.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
Hair loss because of malnutrition? Vitamins to help?
Hi, two years ago I was diagnosed with anorexia. Since then I've been going through the recovery process, but in August I relapsed. Since then I've lost a significant amount of weight. Of course I see the usual effects that I personally have experienced, but now for the first time my hair is thinning out.
I've always had really thick hair, but the past 3 or 4 days now there's been a lot of hair loss to the point where it's noticeable (to me at least). I'm really worried. I did take multi-vitamins, but lately they've been making me extremely sick (vomiting.. ew) so I stopped taking them about 2 weeks ago.

Are there any vitamins that helps with hair loss, but doesn't cause hair growth else where (i.e: arms, face, back. I'm trying to avoid lanugo or avoid the start of it at least.) Or vitamins to strengthen hair? I'm willing to try herbal supplements and stuff, too.

But, aside from all that, I'm not entirely sure the hair loss/thinning is from my relapse. I also got my hair dyed 3 weeks ago, for the first time. There has been a like, grease build up and my hair is usually never greasy. Do you know if that could be it too? Or would it least be a possibility? I'm trying not to jump to malnutrition, since it never happened in the past, even when I was at a lower weight than I am now.

*I don't think it needs to be said but please don't tell me how bad anorexia is/that the only way to get it is to get help. I'm fully aware of the effects, and how bad it is for myself. Yes, I am looking for recovery again, but I'm not ready yet.

  2. QUESTION:
Can going under general anesthesia result in hair loss?
Are there any vitamin, mineral or herbal remedies for sudden hair loss?

    • ANSWER:
According to an article I read the causes for hair loss are many and varied. Genetic 'Pattern Baldness' is the most common, but there are other very common causes such as Hormonal Imbalance, Illness, Poor Diet, Poor Hygiene, Drug Abuse and Stress. Read this article, http://myhairloss.googlepages.com/hairlossisthereamagicalcure

As for some natural hair loss remedies. They are
      1. Massage
      2. Aromatheraphy
      3. Saw Palmetto Extract
      4. Nettle Root Extract
      5. Rosemary and Sage
      6. Jojoba Oil
      7. Aloe Vera
      8. Henna

  3. QUESTION:
What are the best vitamins/supplements to help make hair grow longer and thicker?
What could cause a 22 yr old girl's hair to start getting really, really thin??? My hair has never been really thick and full, and lately I have noticed that it is starting to get unusually thin and sparse. :( (

I have tried a number of different shampoos and always use a good conditioner, so mistreatment is not what is causing this problem. I have never even had it dyed or done anything else that could unnaturally damage it. It is not shedding very much now, but I noticed a lot of shedding earlier this yr. I think that is part of why it is soo thin now. I just don't know what caused it, or why it doesn't seem to be growing back thickly like it should. The only causes I can think of are that I did not take care of myself(didn't eat well, get enough sleep, and was under a lot of stress from college) during the spring of this yr. I was also on accutane last yr. Could it be possible that my hair loss is caused by taking accutane a yr ago?

I have heard that prenatal vitamins are good for my problem and am thinking about trying them. Is there a certain kind that works best? Also are there any herbal supplements for growing hair that actually work? Thanks for any answers or suggestions!

    • ANSWER:
Shampoos & conditioners are meant to clean & condition your hair. They say anything to make the consumers buy their product, it's part of marketing, window treatment, NOT MEANT to grow hair as you've experienced.

Prenatal works because women suddenly stopped 'abusing' their hair by adding chemicals on their hair because they're now pregnant.

You get all your vitamins & minerals & proteins FREE from the good foods you eat from Mother Nature, not made by man, and no shampoo can help grow hair, not even those made for horses. Horses don't abuse their hair, using heating tools, and they eat better than people, but it won't add more hair & make their hair longer faster.

Foods for Healthy Hair - the website had moved.
      http://health.yahoo.com/experts/healthie…
Fruits, vegetables, legumes, and whole grains all supply B-complex vitamins, like biotin, folic acid and vitamin B12, as well as vitamin A, copper and zinc, which are all necessary for remedying dry, brittle hair and nourishing a healthy scalp. Some prime examples of foods that contain these nutrients for healthy hair include:
      ·                     Folic Acid - asparagus, beets, broccoli, avocados, Brussels sprouts, beans, chickpeas, soybeans, lentils, oranges, fresh peas, turkey and spinach.
      ·                     Biotin - cauliflower, liver, salmon, carrots, bananas, cereals, yeast, and soy flour. Keep in mind that biotin content is reduced when food is cooked or preserved.

If having a lush, beautiful mane of healthy hair is important to you, don’t just look to hot oil treatments and shine emollients. Eat these foods for healthy hair and say “bye-bye” to bad hair days.

So many reasons why you have hair loss:

Supplements, steroids, hereditary, hair dyes perming, straightening, diet, having babies (yes I read once it happened to her), stress, medications with testosterone, certain antidepressants, menopause, anti-acne, and too much of everything. Add to that the 7,000 + toxics found in your home, plus pollution found outdoors. Your hair is crying for help!
When your teeth falls or get cavities, do you blame the toothpaste?

When your hair is crying for help, that's when it's too late to do anything about it, and hair products can not reverse the problem.

They also say you normally lose 100-200 hair a day, but I don't. I lose about 7-8 every time I brush it, so that's about 100 per week, give or take.

The majority of hair problems here are from girls in their 30s, asking how to care for their damaged hair, what product to make their hair grow, why their hair falls out, and why their shampoo or conditioner don't work. Women between 60-80 have that same problem, but it took them years to get there. And those same 30 & under girls are giving advice here? Go figure!

Even the cheapest shampoo can do magic for your hair, so it must be what you're doing AFTER you wash it. Shampoos and vitamins might make your hair look and feel healthier, but they won’t put more hairs on your head.

According Dr. Melissa Piliang, a dermatologist at the Cleveland Clinic. Americans spent an estimated 6 million on hair loss products last year, and chances are some of that money was not well spent. Don’t let charming salon owners, seductive ads or fancy gimmicks convince you otherwise.

I know hair. I am in my early 60's, and I've been having menopause, and I am not experimenting hair loss, for those who said I don't know what I'm talking about when it comes to hair. I have silky, shiny, soft, smooth very healthy long hair. Previously damaged by perming & dyeing. What you see on my profile is what I have now. It's as thick as when I'm in my teens.
Stress, seldom. I went through stress when both parents died, plus sister taking me to court & selling the house, on my own and still no hair loss here!

  4. QUESTION:
Dandruff Cure, Natural? Herbal? Deficiency in what vitamins/minerals/oils??
Trying to find the natural remedy for dandruff (NO i dont want to know about anti dandruff shampoos, they cause hair loss later on) I want to know if anyone knows what the BODY is lacking that creates dandruff.

    • ANSWER:
Dandruff is usually caused by skin micro-organisms (most specifically Malassezia yeasts). Rarely dandruff can be a manifestation of an allergic reaction to chemicals in Hair Gels/Sprays,HairOils and sometimes even dandruff medications like ketoconazole.

There have been many strategies for the control of dandruff. Simply increasing shampooing will remove flakes. However, elimination of the fungus results in dramatic improvement. Regular shampooing with an anti-fungal product will not only treat but prevent recurrence. The most effective over-the-counter product (in the U.S.) is Nizoral (ketoconozole). As mentioned as above, in some folks it can cause more flaking as a side effect, but this is very rare with the OTC product. Nizoral is also available as a higher strength prescription product.

Some of the older products are effective as well - Selsun Blue and Head-and-Shoulders are commonly used and help many people.

If the flaking is caused by dry skin, hair oils (applied to the scalp) may help. If itching is intense try the OTC Scalpicin Lotion or if very severe use an OTC antihistamine such as Claritin or Benadryl for temporary relieve.

I hope this helps, be well.

other problem is MEMORY. i can't seem to remember huge chunks of my past, near and far, as well as short-term memory stuff, like where i'm driving to, which class do i have today, or what did i come upstairs for? it's getting really old! i am 21 and i feel like i have alzheimer's disease. i feel like an old woman. it's so hard.

    • ANSWER:
You might try something called "Raw Thyroid". I find it at the natural foods store. Extra Vitamin B supplements are also good for the thyroid. I like "Emergen-C" which is loaded with Vitamin B as well as C. That can be found at about any grocery store, or pharmacy isle.

  7. QUESTION:
I going to be starting the Herbalife diet with my hubby.... Does it work?
I am doing the full pack with the supplements, shakes, protein etc.

    List of products:

Herbalife Herbal Concentrate: Low-calorie tea-mix for a tasty and healthy alternative to coffee and sodas -
comes in several flavors and includes selected herbs and green tea for its thermogenic and antioxidant properties.

Herbalife Multivitamin Complex: A daily multivitamin and mineral supply, plus selected herbs, to maintain health of bones, skin, hair and the immune system, and promote overall well-being and long-term good health.

Herbalife Cell Activator: Essential nutrients, plus selected botanicals, to improved nutrient absorption and support cellular energy production and stamina.

Herbalife Protein Powder: a blend of unflavored whey and soy protein powder, that is mixed in shakes, soups and sauces to help maintain lean muscle mass and reduce hunger.

Also of course, we will be doing more then just "dieting" , we will be doing regular exercise.
We have very busy life styles, so this meal plan seems ideal for us, rather then missing meals, or eating too much making up for missed meals etc.

Please anyone with their stories if they've done this, please share.

    • ANSWER:
Keep in mind, it is not a diet. You are slowly changing your eating habits and adding in healthier foods. I have had awesome results from these products. In 2008, I lost 35 lbs, lowering my cholesterol, my acid reflux is under control and a few other issues. I still have kept the weight off and I only use their Quick Start program and Aloe (Mango is the best). It is extremely healthy for you but remember, you need to eat healthy, get the right amount of protein and calories and drink half your weight in ounces of water. You can eat two snacks in between meals (low carb /fat, high protein).
Most people think it doesn't work because
      a. they don't follow the directions and never lose weight
      b. don't lose weight, yet don't think of check their measurements, you will be surprise the amount
of inches that will come off before the weight does
      c. loses weight and then goes back to old eating habits
Be smart, follow the plan, work with your coach.

      Hope this helps, good luck.

  8. QUESTION:
I have horrible skin. Why is this happening to me?
I have horrible, cystic acne ridden skin. I started having acne when i was 9 years old and I am now 15. I have been to 8 very professional dermatologists but they all failed and kept pointing me to the next best one until i reached one of the best dermatologists in the country. But still, he failed. I have tried proactive and clearasil with horrific results. acne md, skin id, all the big products. they all made it worse. I've tried every kind of extreme acne treatment, every kind of medicine, and i eat no sugar or saturated fats, no greasy meat, nothing. I eat all organic and i constantly drink water all day and herbal tea with every meal. but last month i did the unthinkable and ate a slice of cake and after that my skin was complete hell for a week. I get plenty of vitamins and minerals and protien. change my pillow cases every night, clean my face twice a day, basically, i do everything right, but i just have to face the fact that i am doomed to a life of acne. My father is 58 and he still has acne. he has had it all his life starting around the same age my tragedy began. and my mother also had cystic acne. I don't have many friends, and this is the reason why. No guy has ever liked me more than an acquaintance and I feel completely disgusting. People think i don't take care of myself and that i chose this. People tend to avoid me. I also have had a countless number of strangers come up to me in places like walmart or the grocery store and tell me to do the public a favor and get rid of my acne. I think the worst time was when two adults and a guy most likely in his late teen years, all started hollering across the street and told me to put a bag over my head. I am currently trying organic masks and making my own moisturizers and organic acne treatments. It kind of worked, but still, not much of a difference in my appearance. I fear that I will never have a boyfriend and never marry. I want children, but again, i may never have a husband, and i wouldn't want to bring them into the world, knowing what they may go through because of my mutated genes. Also, who would want to hire me? My chances of being successful are slim if i look like this. I dream of clear, smooth skin on my face just like everyone else. and i dream of no more physical and emotional pain. I usually don't leave the house unless i have to. whenever i go out I always keep my head down, wear hoodies alot, and i always wear my hair down so i can use it to hide my face. when people look at me, they always have this intimidating look on their face, no one ever sees my eyes, or my hair, they only see my skin and before anyone can get to know me, they immediately decide i'm not friend material. I'm a very shy person and one of my biggest fears is talking to people and being judged by other people. I have thought about suicide a few times. I even tried to think of a plan. But it would be too devastating for my family. It would be extremely selfish and i wouldn't be able to do it knowing my parents would have to go through the loss. I just don't know what to do. My skin has taken everything away from me; my hope for the future, my friends, my dignity, my sanity, everything. Why is this happening to me? Where is there a way out besides death?
Already tried accutane for months. never worked
Also i tried proactive and it made my face 3 times worse. and i heard that from many other people too that it made theirs worse. I'm just so hopeless and I'm almost ready to give up since the chances are high that I'll be just like my dad. I just need to find some way to try to accept it, but i'm just so depressed.

    • ANSWER:
First, you should realise that you are 15 - you are still a teenager. Adolescents start developing acne due to hormone imbalances, diet, and genetics (or younger. Depends on their genes). Some young adults (early 20's) remain to have acne till later in life when they're around their 30's.

Herbal Treatment For Hair Loss

Written By: admin - Oct• 29•12

To gain the long lustrous locks and to improve the hair growth, there are many things that we do. This can range from investing in expensive shampoos hawked by salons to spa treatments that cost a fortune. Let's discuss some home remedy for hair loss that are natural, side effect free, inexpensive and very effective in treating hair loss problems.

1. Cumin seeds are part of the carrot family and are good for the hair growth. Take nearly half cup of olive oil and add a table spoon of cumin seeds in it. Rub the mixture properly over the scalp and leave it for some time, half an hour or more. After the mixture dries, rinse it off carefully.

2. Using Oils for Hair Growth: An age old natural home remedies for hair growth is the use of castor oil, coconut oil and olive oil. Mix these oils together and warm it a bit to allow the oil to penetrate the roots of the hair and promote hair growth.

3. Using natural oils is a great way to help new hair grow, and frequent oil treatments will also strengthen the hair you have already. Natural oils include olive oil, avocado oil and almond oil. For mild treatments, the best way to use oil is to put some on the scalp after shampooing, leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes and then rinse. For more moderate cases of hair loss, saturate the scalp with oil prior to bedtime and then cover your head with a shower cap and sleep with the oil in the hair. Rinse upon awakening. This can be performed once or twice a month, as too many treatments will result in overly oily hair.

4. You can also apply castor oil or olive oil for massaging the scalp to arrest hair fall.

5. Jojoba oil is a popular herbal cure for many skin and hair related problems. Regularly massaging the scalp by jojoba oil has been found to provide solution to hair loss.

6. Lemon for Oily Hair: An effective hair growth home remedy for oily hair is the use of lemon. You can mix the juice of one lemon with an egg. Amla juice mixed with lemon juice and used for washing the hair fosters hair growth and reduces hair loss quite significantly.

7. Use baking soda and water to rinse off your hair after shampooing your hair. Juice of one lemon or cider vinegar can also be utilized for shine and bounce. Stale beer also does the trick.

8. Rosemary with its antiseptic properties is believed to be one of the best herbal products for stopping the hair loss and allowing the hair to grow. One teaspoon of dried rosemary can be steeped in hot water for twenty minutes. Strain off the liquid and use it to wash your hair. You can also add half a cup of apple cider vinegar to this rosemary solution.

9. Adding essential oils like ylang ylang, horseradish oil, rosemary or patchouli to hair care products also rejuvenates hair and solves your problem.

Follicle hair transplant therapy is still in a stage of research and testing, and so is not yet available as an alternative to conventional hair transplants.

However, this treatment (which is also known as follicular cell implantation) will involve the following procedure - A scalp biopsy is first taken to obtain a few healthy hair follicles. (This uses a local anaesthetic and takes about 30 minutes).

The extracted follicles are then dissected to obtain the papilla, each of which contains between 200 and 400 dermal papilla cells (DPC's).

There are many causes of loss of hair such as stress, poor nutrition ,medications, thyroid dysfunctions, illness, fungal infections ,hormonal problems, to mention a few. but anyway you can always try and get real results.

year ago my husband suffered from hair loss too and he started trying everything you can imagine to stop his hair loss. the things that really worked for him was:

      1) Vitamin A - an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp;

      2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The 'B' vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation;

      3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage;

      4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice(you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three);

      5) also used herbal treatment.in that case Provillus is a good product that helps prevent hair loss and it is an FDA approved product. I think it is very important!

A question about hair loss treatments?
I'm 18 and showing signs of hair loss, my dad has a large bald spot and I can tell I'm heading in the same direction.
I want to know, because of my age and the fact that my hair loss is only very mild at this point, would treatments such as Herbal-H http://www.herbal-h.com/ and HairMax Lasercomb http://www.hairmax.com/ be more effective at preventing any further loss, along with possible regrowth?

I've been worrying about this for ages and I really want to stop it as it is such a drain on my self confidence. Help, anyone?
That didn't really answer the question, I want to know if because I've caught onto it fairly early there's a better chance of stopping and reversing it. I'm not too keen on Propecia, it sounds like there's too many risky side effects to it.

Propecia, Avodart, Nizoral, Rogaine, nonsurgical hair replacement and hair transplants.

    Hair loss treatments question?
I'm 18 and have had my hair thinning for about 3 years and it appears to have quickened over the last year/6 months...
    I've researched and have been using;
Green tea supplements (along with drinking green tea),
Ginkgo Biloba (which i have been using for about 4 years anyway).

I'll admit i dont lead the healthiest of lifestyles but i do some weight training atleast once a week and have cut out crisps, chocolate and alot of fatty foods (although not completely).

I have recently been looking into treatments such as Procerine and couldnt find any bad review, then stumbled upon a site where the admin told a member that Procerin (along with alot of other treatments) will only work as long as you use it, when you stop all the 'regrown' hair will simply fall out asif it had never been there...

I'd like to know if there are any other treatments i can try,

And are there any medical tablets etc that will not cause the hair to fall out after you stop using them?
    Thanks

      1) Vitamin A - an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp;

      2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The 'B' vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation;

      3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage;

      4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice(you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three);

      5) also you should use some herbal treatment.in that case Provillus is a good product that helps prevent hair loss and it is an FDA approved product. I think it is very important!

It worked and still works for me!

I do not know if any pharmacies carry Provillus but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here http://www.provillus.com/?aid=749165

      good luck!

SEVERE HAIR LOSS URGENT PLS REPLY >. I went to a barbershop for a smoothing treatment (to get my hair straighten) 1 and a half year ago, and i have been experiencing severe hair loss since then. good thing my hair was naturally thick, and the new ones grow nicely, but it has becoming thinner and thinner each day.. it's so scary to see maybe around 50 of my hair falls everyday, maybe double that when i wash my hair. previously i did the same thing once but there was no problem, i think this one is because of the chemicals got into my scalp too much. i tried various kinds of products but nothing really did a big help, but i noticed that my hair is now sensitive to chemicals, coz it gets better when i use herbal products, but this products make my hair dull and messy -> therefore causes hair loss too when i comb it. i know people say losing 50-100 hairs a day is OK, but this has been going on for too long. i thought 1 year later it would be ok, but it's been over than 1 year and it's getting worse and worse. i'm so desperate and i need help please. =( any suggestion of any kind of treatment, food, supplement, products, anything that i should or should not do? THANK YOU.

Don't panic. There are many myths about hair loss. If you loss 50 or even 100 hairs everyday, that's perfectly normal. All human beings loss about 100 to 130 hairs everyday. Our hair grows and falls everyday. So you don't need to worry. If it's more than that than you should talk to a good doctor. Although many products says that it's herbal, they are just trying to fool people. So before using any product try to research about it. I hope my answer will help you. You will find some more facts about hair fall in the link given below.

  12. QUESTION:
How to deal with the loss of your pet?
I have a story to tell if anyone is interested:

About three years ago,I moved out on my own and my wife(she was my girlfriend at the time) got me a dog so I wouldnt be alone. I had her for about 3 weeks when my wife rescued another dog. She told me she went to her friends house to visit and there was a loose dog and came up to her and just was as excited as could be. Her friend said that he was the neighbors dog,but they never took care of him. The owner, ironically, was a cop who got the dog at a shelter because his kids wanted one. The lady at the shelter told the guy that the dog was in that shelter for about 4 months, got adopted, and was pickup up again and brought back to the same shelter and she didnt want to see that again. The dog was always loose, not in a fenced in yard, never had any food,so my wife's friend let him sleep in their outdoor kitchen at night and gave him food. The final straw was when the neighbors went on vacation, and left the dog behind,no one to watch him,no food,or anything. My wife's friend called her and said that if she wanted him,to come pick him up,so she did. He ended up staying with me and I told my wife I couldnt keep another dog,so we would find him a good home, but I got attached so we kept him.

His hair was matted, and he stunk because he probably havent had bath in years. So,I gave him a nice haircut(even though he HATED the clippers) and a bath. After that,he seemed happy. Both of my dogs stayed inside most of the time and they always had food and treats available.

We took him to the vet because I'm sure he's never had a vet visit and everything checked out fine, except he tested positive for heartworms. The vet wanted to schedule him to get treated for heartworms, but me being a college student and only working a few hours a week,I couldnt afford it. The vet told me to call the humane society to see if they could help with the cost. I called them and unfortunately, they could not help because they had a waiting list of dogs to be treated, but she gave me a number of a lady to call that could help me. I called her and she suggested herbal treatments and I bought a 3 month supply. She said that herbal treatments are better because the arsenic treatments they give at the vet's office can cause cancer, and also yor pet has to be restricted at all times. The herbal treatments were natuaral and our dog could play all he wants.

I did the herbal treatments religiously and started seeing signs of improvement. Before treating him,he weighed 11lbs and didnt eat alot. After a few weeks of the treatment,he was more energetic, ate more, and gained 5 lbs. He seemed happier.

After I got married,I built a large outside cage for my dogs. Thinking the heartworms were gone,I started him on heartworm preventative, when I should have taken him to the vet to make sure.

He was fine up until a few days ago. I went outside in the morning to let them loose before I went to work and even though he seemed happy,he wasnt running as much and I saw that he didnt eat as much, but I didnt want to be paranoid so I let it go. I came home that afternoon from work and normally when I get home, they bark until I let them out. I didnt hear a bark. Thinking the worst,I ran towards the cage and he was there, happy as could be,but couldnt bark, and his food bowl was still full, which is not normal. I put him inside for the night,so we could monitor him.

The next morning,I opened the door for him to go outside, and he didnt want to.I had to pick him up and bring him and when he urinated,it was all blood. I told my wife and we hurried to the vet. The vet said that his kidneys were failing and that he was anemic, due to the heartworms. He gave us some antibiotics and gave him some shots to try to boost his immune system to get him feeling better. We brought him home and I went outside every 10 minutes to check on him.

I had to go to a wedding that night for my best friend. If he hadnt asked me to serve in his wedding,I would have stayed home to watch him,but not thinking the worst,we left. We came home about 6 hours later and found him nonresponsive and very stiff. My other dog,was laying next to him not knowing what was going on.

I buryed him the next day, underneath the tree he loved to lay under when it was hot outside. It hurts so much because when I go to the kitchen sink to wash dishes,I look outside and I dont see him. I see my other dog,all alone and confused.

He was a wonderful dog. Even though he was little,he had a big heart. He didnt like any dogs coming into his yard and he let them know. One day it was raining and he would not go into his igloo. He just kept barking,I went outside and put him in his igloo and I walked away. I turned around and he was back out, barking. The reason why is because the igloo opening wasnt facing the house to where he could see. So I turned it and he went inside and layed down.

He was a true mutt. A mix between a yorkie/poodle/maltese,and cocker spaniel. Wha

    • ANSWER:
Your story is so heartwarming. It is so difficult to have to let them go. On January 19 my fifteen-year-old Cocker seemed to be fine that morning. That night he was obviously not himself. The next morning my husband took him to the vet and they found a large tumor on his pancreas. There was nothing they could do. So we had him cremated. As if this isn't bad enough, I have a ten-year-old Pyrenees with lymphoma. Every day I wonder if it is my last day with him. I spend a lot of time being emotional, not only because of the loss of my cocker, but for the impending loss of my beloved Pyr. It does hurt us so badly, and from your story, youhave truly loved and given your best to this little dog. My heart goes out to you, and I hope healing and peace of mind will come to you quickly. I am in that grieving boat right along with you. Best to you
